The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has authorized KSDE to approve waiver requests to allow local program operators to offer non-congregate meals when participants observing Ramadan are fasting during typical meal service times.
The waiver is available for the School Nutrition Programs (SNP) and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). For the CACFP, the waiver is available in emergency shelters, adult day care centers, outside-school-hours care centers (OSHCC), and the at-risk afterschool component.
The KSDE Child Nutrition and Wellness team is offering the "Wellness Wednesdays" webinar series in February focused on heart health.
These workshops are one-hour Zoom sessions with topics aimed at assisting Kansas school wellness committees implement wellness policies and create healthier school environments.
